July 20, 2023Who owns Genoks?
Genoks was founded in 2008 by lawyer Özden BOSTAN. A 1989 graduate of Hacettepe University, Health Administration, Özden BOSTAN served as Hospital Director at Gümüşhane State Hospital between 1994-2000. After graduating from Anadolu University Faculty of Law in 1999, Özden BOSTAN serves as the Chairman of the Board of Genoks Health Services Inc.
Genoks is a pioneer in Turkey in performing non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) using Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) technology. NIPT is a screening method that evaluates the genetic health of the fetus from samples taken from the mother’s blood during pregnancy. With its innovative approaches and technology in this field, Genoks provides expectant mothers with more reliable and earlier genetic information.
About Genoks
Beginning operations as an R&D laboratory in 2008, Genoks produced PCR and RTPCR-based diagnostic kits and DNA isolation kits for use in molecular biology and genetic research between 2008-2010. These were registered in the National Knowledge Bank and used by leading institutes and organizations in Turkey. Thanks to its investments since starting operations in 2008, Genoks has a total laboratory and office area of 1,100 m². With the technology transfers it has carried out, Genoks became the first Genetic Diseases Evaluation Center in Turkey to routinely perform NIPT testing using Next-Generation Sequencing technology.
In addition to Non-Invasive Prenatal Screening, Genoks continues to provide services in numerous genetic test areas such as Whole Genome Sequencing, Whole Exome Sequencing, Cancer Genetics, Genetic Carrier Screening, Newborn Genetic Screening, Single-Gene Diseases, Metabolic Diseases, Neurodegenerative Diseases, Ophthalmology Genetics, Sports Genetics and Pharmacogenetics, with more than 80 specialist staff in Turkey and abroad. Sharing its technology with 10 countries, more than 750 hospitals and approximately 5,000 physicians, Genoks has performed more than 80,000 NGS tests and houses high-technology sequencing platforms, local servers and an NGS database of more than 400,000 GB. Genoks aims to be one of the largest genome centers in EEMEA, contributing to human health not only in Turkey but also in the surrounding region.
What services does Genoks provide?
After answering “Who owns Genoks?”, we can move on to “What services does Genoks provide?”. Genoks offers a wide range of test panels including Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS), Whole Exome Sequencing (WES), RNA Sequencing, Cancer Genetics, Carrier Screening Tests, Newborn Screening Tests, Single-Gene Diseases, Metabolic Diseases, Neurodegenerative Diseases, Ophthalmology, Nutrigenetics, Sports Genetics and Pharmacogenetics.
