Who Owns Genoks?
May 30, 2023The patented NIPT test of the Genoks Genetic Diseases Evaluation Center (How many days does the Genoks test take?) RapidNIPT is reported within 3 working days. In some cases this period may extend to 5 working days.
What Is RapidNIPT?
RapidNIPT is a next-generation screening test performed from a single tube of blood drawn from the expectant mother starting at the 10th week of pregnancy. In addition to being non-invasive, it does not pose any risk to the health of the mother or baby and screens for 70 different chromosomal disorders. RapidNIPT uses Illumina VeriSeq NIPT Solution v2 technology.
RapidNIPT, the NIPT test of the Genoks Genetic Diseases Evaluation Center, is performed at the Genoks Ankara Laboratories with rapid turnaround and 99% accuracy. In addition to its standard parameters, RapidNIPT also reports rare numerical chromosomal anomalies attributable to the fetus and deletions/duplications of a certain size detected during sequencing.
A deletion is characterized by a loss in a chromosome segment, while a duplication is characterized by an increase in a chromosome segment. The size, location, and the genes contained in a deletion/duplication determine the clinical features of the resulting syndrome.
Deletion/duplication syndromes can lead to clinical features such as growth/developmental delays, cognitive deficits, behavioral problems, feeding difficulties, changes in muscle tone, seizures, dysmorphic findings and various malformations.
RapidNIPT, using the mother’s blood sample, analyzes the baby’s genetic material and evaluates it for chromosomal abnormalities.
